First phase of the living lab in Veendam!
In February 2022, we started the living lab in collaboration with housing association Acantus and contractor Plegt Vos in Veendam. The aim is that residents participate in the renovation process of their homes.
The first step is that we show residents what the choices for the kitchen, and the tiles in the toilet and the bathroom look like. Acantus offers a number of choices, and in this way we support the process of making choices.
To this end, we modeled in virtual reality the kitchen, the toilet and the bathroom, just like in a game world. This allows a tenant to see what personal choices he or she has made using the brochure as an input. If someone was not satisfied, we show all other options and combinations, to support the decision-making process. In the end we asked all residents whether they would like to participate in the ‘garden-project’ for which we will develop the garden in VR so that residents can discuss amongst each other what they prefer. Over 20 tenants have indicated that they would like to participate!
